Music Review: Race

The music of Race has been composed by Pritam. The movie Race by Abbas Mustan is an actions thriller that has a line of lead casts which include Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy. The album has 2 CD’s one of the CDs has the original version of the song and the other CD is for remixes of the songs.

‘Race Saanson Ki’ – The song ‘Race Saanson Ki’ has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and it makes one feel the actions and thrills in the movie. The another version of the song is called ‘Race Is On My Mind’ that is made in Hindi and English and it also has some remix version in the CD 2..The song has a lot of energy and is party song.

‘Pehli Nazar Mein’ –This is romantic song with some good lyrics and the song has been sung by Atif Aslam and has less background music. This is an entertaining one. The song also has ‘Lounge Mix’ and ‘Club Mix’ versions and the Pakistani singer’s voice suits the increase in number of instruments in the remix versions.

‘Dekho Nashe Mein’ –The party number ‘Dekho Nashe Mein’ is .lovely with music but the lyrics of the song are not very impressive though the choreography of the song will be decisive factor to get the song recognition. The song is also made into ‘Latin Fiesta’ and ‘remix versions ‘ and both are average songs.

‘Mujh Pe To Jadoo’ –The song has been sung by Taz and is a romantic number .The voice of Sunidhi Chauhan can also be heard in the song having too many male voices that looks like a beach party song with rappers and Punjabi beats. This is a good one.

‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ – This is a good song sung by Monali and is appealing. The song has also been made into ‘Asian RnB Mix’ and a ‘remix versions ‘ and both the versions of the song are party songs with heavy western kind of music.

‘Race Theme’ –The last in the album is the Race theme and is played for 2 minutes.

Except a few songs like the one that look to be new and fresh, ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’ and ‘Zara Zara’, most of the songs in the album are like Pritam repeating songs from somewhere .The albums by Pritam like Life In… A Metro was far better than this one. The songs of the album will fade away if the movie is not successful on the box office.
