On the sets: Kaafila
Our angry man Sunny Deol (Border, Gadar) was recently in Amritsar shooting for his latest film ‘Kaafila’ and he decided to give a trip to the Wagah Border where our Jawans keep a close eye on the Border activities.
Sunny paid a visit to the Wagah Border to witness the Beating of Retreat at sundown and praised our Indian soldiers from his heart. “I think they are great. That’s why I wanted to do a film on them. So I brought Kaafila here”, Sunny Deol said.
And after getting up close and personal with the soldiers, Sunny also described the trip to Wagah as an eye-opener. “I am in love with my army. Because what they do in these areas, people can’t realise this sitting in their homes,” he added.
And now since Pak-bashing isn’t really hot at the box-office, Sunny is also looking for a change of image. What’s better than to rope in a Pakistani actress Sana Nawaz as his co-star.
“This film is not anti-Pakistan,” says Pakistani actress Sana. “There is nothing negative in it. Since I come from Lahore, I find nothing different from Lahore here. I like the people here,” she says.
Kaafila is a film about illegal migrants and their problems, inspired from the real life incident of 1996 Malta boat tragedy, which claimed the life of over 290 people on Christmas Day, most of them Indians.
The film is scheduled for a mid-2006 release.
