Shahrukh, Akshay to star together in Kabhie Kabhie remake
Shahrukh is still the Badshah of acting despite of not getting any awards this year and Akshay is currently ruling the box office. And the two will be seen together for the first time as opponents (Shahrukh to don Amitabh’s cap, while Akshay in Shashi Kapoor shoes) in Yash Chopra’s Kabhie Kabhie remake.
Yes, Yash Chopra has decided to remake his own ’70s block-buster Kabhie Kabhie originally made with Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Rakhee. The new version is likely to have Shah Rukh Khan playing Amitabh and Akshay Kumar playing Shashi Kapoor. For Rakhee’s role Yashraj Films had approached Rani Mukherji but apparently Rani doesn’t have dates available, so now they are considering Preity Zinta.
The remake version won’t be a copied frame-to-frame. The subject may be similar but the treatment and approach will be far more contemporary. Yash chopra wants to remake Kabhie Kabhie for today’s generation.
Yash Chopra choose Shah Rukh and Akshay as they have never worked together (except Dil to Pagal Hai where they together shared blink-a-miss screen space), so it’s a new combination which may just turn out well.
Kabhie Kabhie is a story spanning two generations, where two lovers are forced to marry against their will, but hold onto memories of their romance. Years later circumstances force them to confront their spouses, their children and each other.

I think it will be interesting to watch out our favorite stars playing little above their comfort zone. The roles offered are different than normally they do play. I pray god for atleast couple of films more between them.
