Spiderman 2: The perfect sequel ever
Spiderman 2: The perfect sequel ever?
Is Spiderman 2: The perfect sequel ever made, that’s the million dollar question I have been asked more than once. No it isn’t. Terminator - 2 is my personal favorite. But sure Spiderman comes close enough. The story continuation, the villains, the graphics all has been handled superbly. Director of the movie showcased a more humane Spider Man which is pretty impressive to say the least. Superheroes are rarely explored in their human versions, but Spiderman seems to be an exception.
“Spider-Man 2″ pulled in a record USD 180 million in its first six days and obliterated other box-office highs over the long Fourth of July weekend.
Bedazzled!!! Don’t be because Spiderman is an incredible movie. Right from the first frame as credits start rolling in, we are shown an overview and action snippets of the first Spiderman movie to prepare us for what lays ahead.
The movie is set in few years down the line where the first movie ended. It is said responsibilities change the lifestyle of a human. The responsibility of being Spiderman has put Peter Parker’s life in turmoil. He’s always late, he can’t keep a date, his grades are failing, and the paper he works for still thinks Spiderman is some sort of criminal. He’s wants to sleep. He’s extremely stressed, and it’s even started affecting the life of his alter ego, i.e. Spiderman and his web slinging abilities.
Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) and Peter are not sure weather and how to commute their love to each other. His best friend Harry (James Franco) still hates Spiderman for killing his Dad. And to make matters worst there is new villain on the prowl. Otto Octavious (Alfred Molina) is a scientist and nice person on the verge of great scientific invention when something goes horribly wrong and he looses control of his mind and turns evil.
As compared to Spiderman, the sequel is more humane. The characters and the story is the real strength of the movie. Every character is given an ample area to showcase his abilities. The director let Peter/Spiderman interact deeply with his family, his friends and his love. He comes to a situation where he has to decide between his love and his destiny. So it’s fair to show that Spiderman 2 is more of a coming of age tale of Spiderman.
The humor and witty one liner (trademark of all Spidy comics and cartoons) are there and draw applause. The CGI (Computer Generated Images) is another focal point of the movie. The special effects are vastly improved as compaired to the first installment. New York City looks is almost brought to life with beautiful camerawork and special effects.
This is a must see for everyone and especially for those gung-ho Spiderman fans. But remember this is a movie and not some Play station or video game title.
