Toronto Film Fest features Aishwarya’s The Mistress of ..

Aishwarya Rai Hollywood movie, The Mistress of the Spices, will be screened at the 30th Toronto International Film Festival which runs Sept. 8 to 17. The love story is directed by Paul Mayeda Berges, based on the novel by Chitra Divakaruni. It is co-produced by Gurinder Chadha, who directed Rai in Bride and Prejudice.

The film features Dylan McDermott opposite Aishwarya Rai and Padma Lakshmi, wife of author Salman Rushdie.

It centers on a San Francisco woman Tilo, an immortal, born in a mystical, faraway place, who is trained in the ancient art of healing with spices. She opens up shop in California, but faces a tough decision when she falls in love with a handsome mortal who could end her healing touch.

Since there is no Hollywood movie without a kiss, hence, Rai can also look forward to her first on-screen kiss.

Toronto fest is a prime spot for studios to acquire movies as well as show off key fall releases and Academy Award contenders.
