Trend of oppositions of movies based on historical scripts

The movie Jodhaa –Akbar is one of the good movies of Bollywood for its rich depiction of history and Indian culture but the movie is facing charges for depicting a wrong history to people and that is getting oppositions from the groups and organizations in many states of India. In the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and even many areas of New Delhi people have carried out rallies against the movie and government banned the screening of the movie Jodhaa Akbar.

Many Rajput groups registered legal cases against the movie that shows a princess from a Rajput Royal family marrying a Mughal Emperor to fulfill a political contract. The movie is being accused of depicting Jodhaa to be Akbar’s wife though in history the Mughal Emperor Akbar never married a Rajput Princess called Jodhaa but Akbar married some other Rajput Princess who was like the characters of Jodhaa depicted in the movie.

Earlier the movie Mughla-E –Aazm also depicted Jodhaa Bai to be Akbar’s wife and many say that the movie Mughal-E –Aazm’s depiction was incorrect but there were never any opposition for Mughal-E-Aazm’s story. Oppositions for movies depicting historical script have been witnessed by the Bollywood earlier as well.

One of the movie was Aamir Khan’s The Risisng: Ballad of Magal Pandey - The movie depicted Magal Pandey to be a hero who fought against the British regiment for his country and he was helped by a sex worker while he struggled but the historian said that Mangal was intoxicated with alcohol and he accidentally got into fight with the British and he never had any association to any sex worker.

The Shahrukh Khan movie Asoka was blamed of depicting some incorrect story of Kauwarki that is not mentioned in history. The movie Mughla – E –Aazm showed Anarkali to be a servant to the Royal Mughal Emperor and she was in love with the prince of the Empire, Saleem but historians do not agree that Anarkali was anybody associated to son of Mughal Emperor Akbar.

There are many other movies that were blamed of showing history wrongly and still a few of these movies are classics and well praised by the audience for the great depiction of the script.
