The last week’s box office was mostly dominated by the movie Jodha Akbar as no releases were made in the last Friday. The movie Jodhaa Akbar was released on Feb 15 and till march 7 no good movies are fixed to get released and this will definitely benefit the movie Jodhaa Akbar.
The rallies and demonstrations against the movie might have effected the business of the movie in some states in India like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh but in general the controversies have also promoted the movie.
The director of the movie Jodha Akbar, Ashutosh Gowarikar invested a huge amount of money of about Rs 40 cores towards making of the movie and it is predicted that the collections made by the movie will exceed the cost but the movie is getting criticized for its length and is also getting praised for the overall presentation. The distributors and makers are predicting the movie Jodhaa Akbar has fetched at least 35 crore in the Indian market itself
Even in the overseas markets the movie is performing well and was reported to have witnesses’ queues for getting the ticket for the movie in the front of theatres where it was screened. The movie gained more than $3 million in overseas market.
The previously released movie Superstar started out well and the lead actor Kunal Khemu got praised for his performance but the movie did not have enough strength to carry forward the initial success at the box to next weeks. The movie is predicted to have made less than Rs 3 crore in Indian market from the time it was released.
The movie Mithya suffered losses after the release of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik starrer movie Jodhaa Akbar as people opted for the movie Jodhaa Akbar to Mithya that was less glamorous than Jodhaa Akbar. The overall collection of the movie Mithya, was less than Rs 5 crore though the cost incurred for making the movie was very less as compared to the collections.
The movie Sunday that was a suspense comedy having the actor Ajay Devgan in the lead role and many other top actors of Bollywood in prominent role and it collected around 20 crore in the four weeks of its release.
