Weekly Box Office Review

The week’s releases include two films “Sarkar Raj” and “Aamir “(not to talk much of “Hamsey Hai Jahan”). Sarkar Raj is said to have opened with a collection of 45- 50% initially but it is expected to grow by the weekend. Aamir got initially 10-15% opening collections and the film will also will enhance its business by the weekend.
The film “Hastey Hastey” was expected to be full of comedy but the film was below average in collections and comedy. The film was shot in international location and had Rajpal Yadav along with Jimmy Shergill in leads but the film did not do even around 50% business though it got into legal controversy during its release.
The film “Hastey Hastey” was drawn into a legal battle over the name of the film. The film’s title was initially taken up by other movie makers and when the same name came up, a case was filed in the court against the movie name. Actually the name of the film is not “Hastey Hastey” it is “Hastey Hastey -follow your heart” and hence the verdict of court went in favor of director / producer of “Hastey Hastey.”
The other film that was released last week and was used as a platform to debut Sikandar Kher was “Woodstock Villa.” The film was a suspense thriller and its collection was low though better than “Hastey Hastey.” The established actor Anupam Kher wanted his son to debut from the film “Summer 2007” and not from “Woodstock Villa” and “Summer 2007” will be released on June 13 when the Kamal Hassan’s film “Dasvantharam” is also slated to be released. Hence Sikander has to face a strong competition ahead.
Amongst the other releases of the last few weeks,”Jannat” was declared to be a success and “Boothnath” was above average in collections.
