After much ado and discussion, Vishal Bharadwaj has decided the title of his next Ajay Devgan - Saif Ali Khan starrer movie.

Vishal himself in an interview revealed that his adaptation of Shakespere’s ‘Othello’ would be titled - Omkara.

The film stars Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, Ayesha Takia, Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles.

The movie - Omkara - is scheduled to start shooting in March and is planned to be completed by the stretch of 2006.

Ananth Mahadevan after the success of Aksar is working on an adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s classic novel ‘Rebecca’. But he won’t be making a period drama. He will change the setting to the modern scenario.

Mahadevan is reportedly considering Emraan Hashmi, Dino Morea, Ayesha Takia and Celina Jaitley for the cast.

The novel revolves around an inexperienced young woman who marries a widower Maxim de Winter and settles into his ancestral mansion, Manderly. She later realises that the memories of her husband’s deceased first wife Rebecca continue to overpower their lives.

Movie Review: Shaadi Se Pehle

What happens in the mind of most of the couples before marriage (Shaadi Se Pehle)? Confusion, fright, panic and misunderstandings. And this is what director Satish Kaushik wanted to reflect through this light entertainer. But don’t pull your hopes too high because apart from the top star cast (Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia, Aftab Shivdasani, Mallika Sherawat, Rajpal Yadav, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Sunil Shetty) and interesting story, the movie is like a luke-warm shower which you might not find too alluring.

Story:
Ashish Kapoor (Akshay Khanna) and Rani (Ayesha Takia) is a couple who are pretty much in love with each other. Ashish has a problem. He tries to stop even the slightest level of tension, by popping a pill to control his shaken nerves. This comes to the notice of Rani’s family members who in turn try to separate them. And if that was not enough for Ashish, there is his friend Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani) who wants Rani to be his, so keep trying to create confusion between lovers. Despite all this, Rani genuinely loves Ashish and sticks to him.

However, when Ashish goes to visit his doctor, he misunderstands the doctor’s diagnosis of hypertension to cancer and thinks that he has only one year to live. (more…)

A long gap after Hulchul

I didn’t take a break. I was doing a film, produced by Anil Kapoor (Gandhi, My Father). That film took exactly a year to complete. After Hulchul I did that film and I signed Shaadi Se Pehle after that. But this movie got over fast and is releasing first.

Reunion with Mukta Arts

I have a special relationship with Mukta. Subhash Ghai is like my father. Whenever he thinks that I am suitable for any role or I can justify with the character, he signs me. I have worked with him earlier and I would like to continue to work with Subhashji in future.

Shaadi Se Pehle experience

Farhan Akhtar assistant Reema Kagti who is making her debut as a director with film ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’ has accused director Nikhil Advani of swiping her story for his film ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’.

This means we have two films in the making that has more or less the same storyline of six couples on Honeymoon. (What a waste!)

Reema revealed that she had narrated a story idea to Nikhil when she was assisting Farhan for Lakshya but things could not get materialized with him at that moment. “I had narrated my love story woven around six couples, to Nikhil Advani. He also had a second round of complete script narration with my dialogue writer Anurag Kashyap. I don’t know why he didn’t do the film”, she said. (more…)

Ayesha has a huge fan following and to prove it she narrated a cute incident to where a twelve year old boy proposed her for marriage.

Ayesha said she could never forget this particular young fan that used to send his pictures to her and also wrote a letter which had a marriage proposal for her!

Ayesha Takia is so against skin show and titillating scenes that she makes her producers sign a contract which states that she will not be asked to show skin or enact sexual intimacy on screen.

The actress feels strongly that her acting speaks everything and only that draw her fans and producers to her. Ayesha revealed in a TV interview that she had used such a contract from the very beginning of her career even though it had become public knowledge just recently.

When suggested that perhaps the actress was not comfortable with her body or intimacy in general Ayesha said it is not about being uncomfortable, it’s about something that works for someone’s life and does not work for someone else’s life. She added, “I have a whole life to go back to. I have a family that I am extremely close to. I have a boyfriend that I am madly in love with. Tomorrow when I have children I want my children to say that our mom was a good actress, not that she was this sex symbol” (more…)
