Fallen Star: Salman Khan gets empathy from Bollywood

Bollywood star Salman Khan, after long overdue of the ‘1998 black buck killing’ case was sentenced 5 year imprisonment by Jodhpur court on Monday (10 April, 2006). The fact that he has already spent ‘one night out of two in Jail’ has came as a great shock to Bollywood and celebrities, who are considering court judgment ‘too harsh’ for the actor.

Khan who is famous for coming out of court proceedings unharmed was actually pinned down this time due to public holiday following the judgment because of which his lawyers got no chance to move for bail or appeal.

According to sources “even though the police knew about it and had an arrest warrant ready, Salman didn’t get a hint of it”. Yesterday the actor came out of the court muttering “This is a wrong decision”. Khan’s mother Salma Khan after listening the news fell faint yesterday complaining of chest pain. She was soon admitted to Mumbai’s Leelawati Hospital.

Bollywood reaction

Bollywood is in a state of shock as Rs 150 crore of money is riding on Salman across five big-budget productions (Salaam-e-Ishq, Baabul, Partner, God Tussi Great Ho, Jaaneman). The actor’s producers are now saying their prayers and many celebrities are giving their grievances against the judgment. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said the court’s decision was way too harsh for the crime committed. (more…)

Amit Uncle illness ruined my holiday plans

Rani Mukherjee talks about why she is without work at the moment, her differences with Preity and how she looking forward to being an aunt.

Rani is unexpectedly without work for at least the next couple of months.

I’ve only two films on hand - Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna’ and Ravi Chopra’s ‘Babul’. And both have Amit uncle with me in the lead. So until he gets completely well, I’ve no choice but to take it easy.

I now have the chance to do all things that I’ve been putting off for so long. I normally don’t get Sundays off. But now I’ve some Sundays ahead to catch up on sleep and take care of several pending obligations. Until Amit Uncle is ready to shoot. I had earlier planned to take April, May off. Now I guess this is my holiday. I’ll take the time to do up my house, meeting people, rehearsing for my shows, listening to scripts. In fact my plans of a holiday have gone for a toss. I’m more over-worked than ever before. So even when I’m not working, I’m working. I’m trying to finish all the pending work as soon as possible. (more…)

I am sure all the cab drivers will love it - John Abraham

Recently John went to see his latest film Taxi 9211 with a thousand cab drivers. He told them bikes are better than Taxis and they taught him how to actually put meter down (by making it upside down from right side and not from left side as he was doing). He had so much fun with them. And now John Abraham gets candid about taxis, his co-star Nana and the film Taxi 9211.

John on taxis
Cabs form the pulse of Mumbai. I remember a picture in The Times of India recently when there was a taxi strike in the city and all the cabs were parked outside the airport. The yellow and black combination looks fantastic. They keep Mumbai moving and we all owe a lot to them for their services. (more…)
