Dimple Kapadia wants to play different kind of roles (Dil Chahta Hai, Leela) and now she will be seen as Katy - a Parsi woman romancing a young man (Saif Ali Khan) in her forthcoming film ‘Being Cyrus’ made by debutant director Homi Adajania.

Being Cyrus has also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Saif Ali Khan and Boman Irani. Talking about the film she also says she is not averse to play a role opposite her ex husband Rajesh Khanna.

Is Being Cyrus on relationships?
It is not on complications in relationships. It is not on dysfunctional marriage either. How would I describe the film? I would say it has a lot of black humour in it. (more…)

You’ve mustered up the courage to do unconventional films.
I think Omkara and Being Cyrus are as different from each other as they are from conventional cinema. Even Salaam Namaste wasn't conventional, though it was mainstream because it was a Yashraj production.

You have a very unusual release coming up?
I loved 'Being Cyrus'. Honestly speaking, whether it's a Vishal Bharadwaj's or Homi Adajania's film, I feel I've moved to a different level as an actor. I might have been a little unsure at the beginning of the project, but instinctively, now I think I have started getting it right. Being Cyrus is my first English-language film. Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan that made youthful romantic comedy ‘Hum Tum’ a huge hit have been signed by Yash Raj films for a romantic film to be directed by Siddharth Raj Anand (Salaam Namaste).

Interestingly, Anand had written the screenplay of ‘Hum Tum’ along with Kunal Kohli, and had secretly hoped to direct Rani and Saif some day. Talking about the plot, Anand says he has moved ahead from the youthful, breezy, boy-meets-girl romantic comedy which was reflected in Salaam Namaste.

“I’m not moving away from the genre of romance, but this film will handle intense and mature emotions. I may sound serious, but the film will have all the essential ingredients for a typical Bollywood masala film,” Anand said. (more…)

What will happen if Bollywood action hero acts with Hollywood action superstar? Obviously, Ultimate Dhamaka! It is said Akshay Kumar is slated to do a Hollywood film with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Director duo Abbas-Mustan has made the impossible possible. They have roped in Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif to join sex bomb Mallika Sherawat in the Tips’ untitled film. It must have been a difficult job since one beauty is always jealous of another one and each of them would want to get more attention than the other.

Since each of them is sex-bombs in their own way, people will surely have much fun seeing their looks. And instead of playing sex-games they will play many mind games in the story. The duo said, “No exposure per se. But yes, all three will be portrayed as equally stylish and glamorous.”

Not just the ladies, the male leads Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan and Saif Ali Khan will outwit each other. Saif will play Fardeen’s older brother and Anil is a cop. While Konkona Sen Sharma left Farhan Akhtar’s produced, multi-strarrer project ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’ to be directed by Farhan’s assistant Reema Kagdi, Raima Sen has been added to the list, in her place.

The film also stars Amisha Patel, Shabana Azmi, Abhay Deol, Minisha Lamba, Kay Kay Menon, Karan Khanna, Ranveer Shourie, Sandhya Mridul and Boman Irani.

Reema confirmed Raima addition, “This film has various important characters and I thought the Raima suited one of the roles best. She is a sensitive actress.” Raima is cast opposite Kay Kay Menon in the film. (more…)
